Сердцем и душой Форд стоит на стороне вечных ценностей. Острый взгляд и чувство справедливости делают его первоклассным свидетелем эпохи, принадлежащим настоящему, полному тревоги и неопределенности. Великолепное построение изображения, использование декораций, когда и пол, и потолок находятся в 1 кадре, лучше всего выражают цельность мира, где проходит детство Хью: мира, который кажется ему нерушимым.
